A.R.T.S., Inc. was founded in 1961 in cooperation with the Salt Lake City School District. By 1967 Granite, Davis, Murray, Jordan and now Canyons School Districts joined the organization. Today we are presenting programs in more than thirty School Districts throughout the State of Utah annually. With our expansion, A.R.T.S., Inc. is a leading source of Arts-In-Education for the state. This past year we presented 550 performances, reaching an approximated 175,000 students. Educating our children for the future is one of the greatest responsibilities we undertake as a society and it is our goal to help a broad network of fine art’s organizations to play an active role in children’s development. Working collectively we assist educators, parents and communities to provide a teaching and learning environment, where children discover the joys of learning through the arts. A.R.T.S., Inc. provides Arts-In-Education programming that not only entertains and educates, but is an excellent support for the Utah State Core-Curriculum in Fine Arts.
Through the fine arts, it is also our objective to see that all students leave grades K through 12 having displayed competency over challenging subject matter including English, Mathematics, Science, Foreign Language, Economics, Arts, History and Geography. By using the arts as a tool for learning, it is our aspiration that every school in the State of Utah will ensure that all students learn to be attentive and appreciative young audiences. At a young age, children must learn to use their minds effectively, so they may be more prepared socially as well as getting ready to discover productive employment in our modern economy.
A.R.T.S., Inc. is the only Arts-In-Education organization in the State of Utah that involves Artists, Business and Community Leaders, School District Fine Arts Specialists, Parents, Teachers and Interested Individuals, collectively working together with a singular purpose of strengthening the fine arts in our children’s education. The goal is to achieve excellence in all academic subjects through performance in Music, Theatre, Dance, Visual Arts and Creative Writing/Listening.
